Beneficial uses of Tea Tree Oil

09:55:00

Hey guys! In this post, I am going to be talking about tea tree oil and why everyone should have some in their homes!

First things first, a little bit of background on tea tree oil. Tea tree oil comes from a tree which can be found in the southeast end of Queensland, at the north coast and in New South Wales. The tree is called Melaleuca alternifolia.

Tea tree oil is an essential oil which is extracted from the leaves of this tree. It is not safe to take by the mouth however it has many uses and many benefits.

The way I use tea tree oil is by diluting it in water. I add a few drops of it in a spray container of water.

1. TEA TREE SPRAY: I use this on pretty much everything, I spray it on my makeup brushes before using them, I spray it on my face before bed to help my acne and I also spray it in my room to kill any bad odours. You can also spray this where shoes are kept to keep the area clean and bacteria free.

2. ACNE: You can directly apply tea tree oil onto your acne without diluting it in water, but it is always recommended to test it on a little area first. I cannot handle the smell of tea tree oil as it is too strong, it also stings on my acne but only for a little while and then it is fine. It dries out my spots and they disappear within days. However, I do prefer just spraying tea tree oil diluted in water onto my face.

3. FUNGAL INFECTION: Another thing you can use tea tree oil for is on any fungal infection. Some people get fungal infections on their feet where the toe nails become yellow and bascially unhealthy and unappealing. Apllying tea tree oil regularly onto the nails will help them recover. This will happen over time so you need to do this every single day.

4. SORE MUCUS THORAT: You can add one drop of tea tree oil, along with a teaspoon of salt into luke warm water and gargle this water in your mouth daily. This will help clear out the mucus and soothe your sore throat.

5. SMALL CUTS ON THE SKIN: Everyone gets those tiny but painful and extremely annoying cuts everywhere on the body. When even do they happen? But do not fear. Tea tree oil will help heal them fast. Just spray a little bit of tea tree oil and water onto a plaster/bandaid and apply it.

6.  BAD BREATH: Gargling tea tree oil has another benefit which is that it kills unwanted mouth bacteria, helping those who might have a bad breath problem. Bad breath is very common and oral care is very important so using tea tree oil for this purpose is an effective method.

7. REDUCING BACTERIA IN THE DUSTBIN: Spray some tea tree oil and water into the dustbin daily to reduce odour and bacteria. Obviously this isn't going to make the bins smell good and completely safe to touch etc etc. But this is an effective method of temporarily making the dustbin area just a little more cleaner.

8. SMELLY SHOES: Spray some tea tree oil and water into your trainers after wearing them and store them in a cool place eg a garage. This will kill the odour. Also add a little baking soda which will help too.

9.  BYE BYE DANDRUFF AND LICE: If you have dandruff, you can add a few drops of tea tree oil into your shampoo, this will also help to prevent lice.

10. SKIN TAGS: Take some lemon juice, apple cider vinegar and a good 6 drops of tea tree oil. Mix these together and apply to your skin tags before bed. Cover it with a plaster/bandaid and leave it on all night. Do this daily and hopefully, in a month you will see results.

Disclaimer:

Please do remember to test these out first, as all of these remedies might not be suitable for everyone. Tea tree oil might not suit all skin types, please try a little first.

These are all methods that I have either tried myself or got from my mum. I'm pretty sure many others use tea tree oil in similar ways.

Hope you enjoyed reading this!:)x
